Introduction

Typing Sound plays realistic keyboard sound effects every time you type. Choose from 14 sound themes including mechanical switches, typewriters, and more. It also includes a typing speed test and data statistics to help you track your typing performance.

Getting Started

Install Typing Sound from the Chrome Web Store
Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar to open the control panel
Toggle on the sound switch to enable keyboard sounds
Select a sound theme from the dropdown — try different ones to find your favorite
Adjust the volume slider to your preferred level
Start typing on any webpage — enjoy the sound!

FAQ

Why can't I hear any sound?

Make sure the sound switch is turned on in the popup. Also check that your system volume is not muted and the extension's volume slider is above 0%. If the website is in your site filter list, sounds will be disabled on that site.

Does it work with non-English keyboards and IME input?

Yes! Typing Sound works with all languages and input methods, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and any other IME-based input. The typing test also supports pasting text in any language.

Does it work in Incognito mode?

Go to chrome://extensions → find Typing Sound → click "Details" → enable "Allow in Incognito".

Will this slow down my browser?

No. The extension uses minimal resources — sounds are preloaded and played directly in the page for instant response. It has no impact on browsing performance.

How do I use the typing test?

Click "Typing Test" in the popup, paste any text you want to practice (up to 500 characters), then click "Start Test". Type the displayed text — correct characters appear in green, wrong ones in red. Results are saved automatically.

How do I disable sounds on specific websites?

Open the popup, find the Site Filter section, enter one domain per line (e.g., google.com), and click "Save". Sounds will be disabled on any page matching those domains.

The extension stopped working after an update. What should I do?

Go to chrome://extensions and click the refresh button on the Typing Sound card. If the issue persists, try removing and reinstalling the extension.
